The first Camarillo exit sits at the bottom of the Grade, Camarillo Springs Road; after it come 52 for Pleasant Valley Road and Santa Rosa Road, SR 34 at Lewis Road, 54 for Carmen Drive, and Las Posas Road toward the west end. When the freeway is blocked, we use the back road. Moorpark Road descends the Norwegian Grade, two miles down into the Santa Rosa Valley with barely any shoulder, and at the bottom Santa Rosa Road runs on to Camarillo and meets the 101 at exit 52.

Since the city incorporated in 1964, Camarillo has bought its policing from the Ventura County Sheriff's Office; deputies serve as the Camarillo Police Department out of the East Las Posas Road station and handle crashes and tows on city streets. On the freeway, Camarillo Springs Road is the boundary: to the east, up the Grade, the CHP's Moorpark Area patrols; to the west, through town, the CHP's Ventura Area, whose territory covers Camarillo.

Can't find your car on a Camarillo street or lot? Ring the station's business line on weekdays between 8 and 5, and non-emergency dispatch outside those hours. Deputies record the tows they order, and private-property tows reach the same records, since Vehicle Code 22658 gives the property owner just one hour, from the moment the tow is approved, to tell local law enforcement. After an officer-ordered tow you may also request a post-storage hearing, in person at the counter, by letter or by phone, within 10 days of the notice date.

Camarillo's street rules fit in two lines. No car may stay on a city street beyond 72 hours. Oversized vehicles - motor homes, long trailers and similar, by the ordinance's measurements - may not park between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays, holidays included, within the listed zones, which were widened in February 2024 to cover more residential, commercial and industrial areas; Sheriff's deputies enforce the rule.

At a free public lot such as a shopping center, Vehicle Code 22953 gives a parked car a full hour before the owner can have it towed, unless it sits in a fire lane or a disabled space, blocks a hydrant from within 15 feet, or stands across a driveway into or out of the lot. Residential lots fall outside the rule.

Heading north, SR 34 runs along Lewis Road to the city limit at Las Posas Road, becomes Somis Road, and meets the 118 near Somis; from there the 118 goes east to Moorpark and the top of the 23 freeway.
