Your car gives out on the 101 just past Westlake Village. At about 5 road miles, Agoura Hills is among our shortest trips: east on the 101, across the Los Angeles County line and through Westlake Village. Even a short trip hinges on freeway traffic, so you get the arrival window by phone together with the price.
Agoura Hills is served by exits including Kanan Road, exit 36, and Chesebro Road, with Reyes Adobe Road on the west side and Liberty Canyon Road, exit 34, on the east. Give us your direction and the exit you last passed, or a street and cross street; a tow truck that ends up on the wrong side of the 101 wastes time turning at the next interchange.

Off a Kanan Road shoulder, dead at a trailhead, detoured by the wildlife bridge
Two wheels slip off the shoulder on the way to the beach. Kanan Road is Agoura Hills' route to the coast, signed County Route N9 for the 12.5 miles from the 101 to Pacific Coast Highway; it rises to Mulholland Highway and then becomes Kanan Dume Road for the descent into Malibu. Cars sit all day at two National Park Service lots. Paramount Ranch, south of the freeway at 2903 Cornell Road off Kanan Road by Cornell Way, has plenty of parking; much of its Western Town burned in the Woolsey Fire in November 2018. North of the freeway, the Cheeseboro Canyon trailhead lies about a mile up Chesebro Road at 5792 Chesebro Road: a dirt lot open 8 a.m. to sunset, without water, with parking outside the gate once it closes. A car left baking there is as likely to need a jump or a lockout as a tow.
The Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crossing now arches over the 101 just west of Liberty Canyon Road. Caltrans completed the span over the freeway in June 2025; the second phase, over Agoura Road, continues through 2026, with opening scheduled for December 2, 2026. Agoura Road beneath it was closed on weekdays from late April to July 1, and Caltrans announced a full closure there through September 1, 2026, so mention it if your route passes that way.
The Lost Hills station, the West Valley CHP and the size rules for an Agoura Hills tow
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department polices Agoura Hills under contract, with deputies based at the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff's Station on Agoura Road, which also serves Calabasas, Hidden Hills, Malibu and Westlake Village. On the 101, crashes and freeway tows belong to the CHP's West Valley Area in Woodland Hills rather than the Moorpark Area, which patrols the Ventura County side.

Call the Lost Hills station first when a car disappears from an Agoura Hills street or lot. Deputies log the tows they order, and private-property tows are reported to them as well, since Vehicle Code 22658 gives a lot owner one hour after authorizing a tow to notify local law enforcement. Catch the tow truck before it leaves the lot, and the car has to be returned to you.
Agoura Hills' own rules concern size. Commercial vehicles with an unladen weight of 11,000 pounds or more may not park on public streets from 2 to 6 a.m., except pickups under 22 feet long and 84 inches high, and violators may be removed under Vehicle Code 22651. Oversized-vehicle permits are issued in 24-hour blocks, up to two days per applicant at their residence in any 30-day period, and must be requested at least 24 hours in advance.
